Partner, Deputy COO

Before joining Arvella, Emilie worked in London as an institutional relationship manager for the UK and France at Morningstar Investment Management. She started her professional career at Euler Hermes Asset Management in Paris as a Financial analyst covering multi-asset strategies, before working as an Equity Portfolio Manager Assistant. Emilie holds a degree in Economic Sciences from Panthéon-Assas University – Paris II and a Master’s degree in Asset Management from Dauphine University.

Partner, Deputy CIO

Prior to joining Arvella Investments, Géraldine worked as a Senior Research Analyst at Pavilion Advisory Group in Montreal, Canada (now a Mercer practice). In this capacity, she worked with investment consultants conducting manager searches for institutional clients as well as due diligence on global investment managers through face-to-face meetings. Géraldine holds an MBA from INSEAD as well as a Master of Science in Administration (M.Sc.) in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from HEC Montreal. She is a CFA charterholder.

Partner, Portfolio Manager

Prior to joining Arvella Investments, Maria was a trader assistant at Société Générale CIB where she spent 3 years supporting the equity derivatives trading desk. She previously worked as a financial auditor at KPMG where she reviewed and assessed financial data, and evaluated internal procedures for financial services and real estate companies. Maria holds a master’s degree in Management from Audencia Nantes School of Management and a bachelor’s degree in Finance and International Relations from Universidad Externado de Colombia, Bogotá. She is also a CFA charterholder.

Founding Chairman

Until recently, Alain held non-executive director roles at Majid Al Futtaim Trust and Henderson European Focus Trust plc. He was also a member of the Board of Santander UK plc and Moody’s Investors Service in Europe. From 2007 to 2012, Alain was CEO of Aviva Investors and prior to that, from 2001 to 2007, he was Global CEO of HSBC Asset Management. From 1991 to 2001, Alain was CEO of Credit Commercial de France (CCF) Asset Management and Head of Insurance business. An Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale de l’Administration Économique (ENSAE) graduate, Alain began his career at the French Treasury in the Ministry of Finance.

Sustainable Investor

Sree joined Arvella Investments after the completion of the MiM-Grande École from ESSEC Business School with a Finance specialisation. He was an active member of ESSEC’s chair program on sustainable finance, where his team collaborated with an alternative asset management firm to research the evolution of the green premium on fixed income products and the potential impact of the incoming EU Taxonomy on valuation. Prior to the management program, he worked as an applied researcher for the energy industry in Abu Dhabi. He holds a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering from Khalifa University, UAE.

Sustainable Investor

Prior to joining Arvella Investments, Benjamin studied Industrial Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Economics and Data Analytics at the University of Mannheim and Nova School of Business and Economics. His academic research was focused on quantitative Finance and derivative pricing. He worked at the Chair of Macroeconomics and Financial markets at the University of Mannheim as research assistant for econometric modelling in the field of macroeconomics. Benjamin played key roles in different social initiatives.

Sustainable Investor

Prior to joining Arvella Investments, Margaux was a PhD student at IFP Énergies Nouvelles and worked jointly with the research lab EconomiX-CNRS from Université Paris Nanterre. While a doctoral student, she conducted research on the determinants of investments for renewable energy and published in the journal Energy Economics. Margaux also holds a master’s degree in Applied Economics from Université Paris Nanterre.

Internal Control and Compliance Manager

Before joining Arvella Radija was Head of Compliance at the Export Import bank of China. Previously, she was Responsible of Internal Audit and Compliance at ABN AMRO Commercial Finance where she spent 5 years. Before that, she worked as internal auditor at General Electric where she reviewed all departments processes and assessed related controls and procedures. Radija holds a master’s degree in business law from Pantheon Sorbonne University.

Senior Scientific Advisor

Lionel is an independent economic consultant at Macrolucid Research specializing in ESG finance. Until 2019, he was a senior cross-asset strategist for Société Générale Lyxor Asset Management in Paris. Previously, Lionel worked as an emerging market economist and fixed income strategist for Deutsche Bank investment bank research in London. He holds a PhD in Economics from The University of Chicago and an MS in Statistics from the ENSAE in Paris. While a doctoral student, Lionel conducted research projects with the Federal Reserve of Chicago, the International Monetary Fund, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and BNP Paribas.

Advisory Investment Committee

Erland is a private investor and philanthropist. He spent his career as a portfolio manager based in London managing a wide range of investment classes across the globe. He was a partner and global co-head of Principal Strategies at Goldman Sachs and co-founder of Eton Park, a multi-strategy hedge fund, before setting up his family office Oelandicum Advisors Ltd. He founded the Latin American Children’s Trust and is also actively engaged in promoting the art of music and music education in the United Kingdom and his native Sweden through the “Signatur” programme. He holds a MSc in Finance and Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics.

Advisory Investment Committee

Donough joined Davy in 2019 as Chief Investment Officer and has overall responsibility for their wealth management portfolios. This encompasses asset allocation, manager selection and portfolio construction. Prior to joining Davy, he led the Investment Strategy Group for Goldman Sachs International in London. In this role he was responsible for advising clients and overseeing client portfolios in the Private Wealth Management division across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Donough joined Goldman Sachs in New York in 2000, working in investment research and strategy. He moved to London in 2002 and became a Managing Director in 2008. He earned a PhD in Mathematics and a MS in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2000, and graduated from University College Dublin with a MSc in Mathematics in 1993.

Frederik is Managing Director of Castra, a single-family office based in the Netherlands, where he is responsible for all investment activities. Prior to his current role, Frederik was a senior consultant in the Transaction Advisory team of Ernst & Young, where he was involved in a wide range of M&A transactions. He also set up a social venture in Malawi to demonstrate sustainable upliftment of communities while contributing to conservation objectives. Frederik graduated from Erasmus University Rotterdam with a MSc in Finance & Investments.

Board Member

Jan has had a career of 40 years in the industrial software business. He developed LMS International from a spin-off in the early 1980’s into a market leader in simulation and test for mechatronic systems, employing 1250 people and revenues of approximately €200 million. Following the acquisition of LMS by Siemens in 2013, Jan led the Simulation and Test Business Segment (STS) in Siemens DI SW and also served as CEO for Siemens Industry Software NV until his retirement in 2021. He currently acts as advisor and investor for innovative businesses. Jan earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1984 and graduated from KU Leuven in 1980 with a MSc in Electromechanical Engineering.

Maryline is managing partner of Spice Capital LLP, a multi-strategy private family office based in London, focused on investing in private businesses with potential for strong social impact. She started her career at BNP Paribas, working mainly on TMT infrastructure investments. In 2000, she moved to Galileo Partners, a leading French VC fund, as a principal in charge of internet investments. In 2003, she co-founded Elaia Partners, an early-stage VC fund in the digital space. Previously, she was a Board member of Bloom, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the protection of oceans. She is also the co-founder of CREN Theodore, a Burkina Faso-based dispensary for promoting health of infants. Maryline is an alumna of HEC Business School and holds a LLM in private law from the University of Panthéon Sorbonne.

Next Generation Advisor

Steven is Partner at Qbic, one of Belgium’s largest seed and early stage venture capital funds. Steven holds a MSc and PhD in Engineering Sciences, both from the KU Leuven, and has passed all three exams of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. During his period as a PhD researcher, Steven co-founded Equilli, a sleep products business. Being an active family principal, he serves on several boards as a Director or Observer in the early or later-stage companies his family supports. He speaks English and Dutch fluently.

Elena is a private investor and an executive coach. She has developed her career in London in Private Equity as an Investment Principal at Keensight Capital and prior to that at TowerBrook Capital Partners. Elena began her career in investment banking at Goldman Sachs, where she worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Group and Private Wealth Investment Management. She holds a degree in Finance & Business Administration from CUNEF Business School (Madrid/London), where she graduated as valedictorian with summa cum laude honours.
